Development Coach
Job Description:
Hamilton Aquatics Swimming and Training is seeking a dedicated Development Coach to join our dynamic coaching team in Doha. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a crucial role in shaping young swimmers into competitive athletes while fostering a love for the sport. The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering and planning high-quality coaching sessions for our Development Squads, nurturing talent, and promoting the values that define our success.
Key responsibilities
Coaching and Development
- Deliver and plan sessions for Foundation, Development, and Potential Squads, as directed by the Operations Manager.
- Deliver technique-focused, skill-enhancing sessions aligned with the Hamilton Aquatics philosophy.
- Track swimmer attendance, set individual targets, and ensure training evolves to meet their progress.
- Promote participation in competitions, advise on event selection, and attend competitions locally and overseas as needed.
- Recruit swimmers into the squads and talent-identify athletes from our Learn to Swim program to ensure full squads and a high-quality pipeline.
Communication and Teamwork
- Maintain proactive communication with swimmers, parents, and staff.
- Handle inquiries and complaints professionally, escalating where necessary.
- Report to the Operations Manager daily, attend weekly coach meetings, and lead area meetings with documentation.
Quality Assurance and Safety
- Adhere to all child protection policies, Hamilton Aquatics' code of conduct, and health and safety protocols.
- Manage site responsibilities, including pool safety checks and first aid as necessary.
Administration Duties
- Complete necessary administration tasks, including booking and competition entries.
- Ensure swimmer attendance and progression records are up to date.
- Support the Operations Manager with new recruit inductions.
Community Engagement
- Represent Hamilton Aquatics professionally at competitions, galas, and events.
- Organise and deliver clinics with local schools to build relationships and raise swimming levels.
- Lead school training sessions and assist schools in inter-school competitions.

Desired qualifications and experience
- UKCC Level 2 Coaching in Aquatics (or equivalent).
- Lifeguard Qualification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Experience in coaching young swimmers, particularly at the Learn to Train and Train to Train stages.
- Proven track record in developing age-group swimmers and ensuring smooth squad transitions.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of swim stroke mechanics and training methodologies.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Proficiency in IT and video analysis tools.
